I find that whenever people visit, or even when I have a free weekend to myself, I am always inclined to travel outside of Germany. Part of that is because Europe is so accessible and that is one reason I love living here. But, on the other hand, I feel like I haven't even taken full advantage of exploring Germany. So, today, my friend Stefanie took me on a tour of Frankfurt.

Frankfurt is the nearest big city...so just about every weekend I am at least in the train station or the airport there. However, until today, that was all I had seen of Frankfurt. I was always quick to tell people, "It's just famous for its banking industry" or "There isn't much to see in Frankfurt", but I was pleasantly surprised by the cute downtown area.
These are some shots from around town...the bridge over the Main River, the historic opera house, and a cute old square with shops.
And, as expected, Frankfurt does have a large financial district, but even some of those building (and the bull and bear statue out front!) are tasteful and historic.
All in all, I had a great time exploring Frankfurt and I feel like a more legit German citizen now!
