Happy Birthday, Jamie!

My oldest brother was born on this day, thirty one years ago.

To the eldest of the Carroll crew…

To the one who is always up for a trip to the beach…

To the one who had me memorizing history facts before I could walk…
(probably by this choking tactic…)

To the one who tickled and tricked me more than anyone else in the world…

To the smartest one in the family…

To the one who introduced us all to the beloved Wake Forest…

To the one who shows more compassion than I ever will…

I am glad you were born, James! Happy, Happy Birthday…I love you!

Cookout

All through college, Cookout was a staple. Their $2 milkshakes with as many flavors as you can imagine are just good for the soul. Good study breaks. Good for late night food. Good for friend dates. Good for your peace of mind. And probably not-so-good for my health. But, I am happy to announce that Cookout has finally opened here in Nashville.

I was elated, to say the least. Cookout used to only be in the Carolinas, and it has slowly been spreading. And now, I am happy to be able to say, it is open for business in Nashville!

I talked a crew of friends into trying Cookout after a nice game of sand volleyball (on a sunny October Sunday!) and all eight of them were amazed by the deliciousness. Cookout, I'll be seeing you frequently.

Wine Pourers Extraordinaire

On Friday evening, several friends and I volunteered at The Franklin Wine Festival to benefit my dad's company, Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The job that we were given was "wine pourers" which was extremely entertaining and easy!

And it wasn't just pouring wine to strangers, we had lots of friends and family come to our tables!

And, to add to all the fun and madness, John Maxwell was crowned King of the Wine Festival!

Donut Days

Reason #5000 why it is fun to live in a house full of girls is that there is always someone around, ready to do something fun at the drop of a hat. A few nights ago, I was telling Camille that the soup I had eaten for dinner was not very satisfying, it was pouring rain outside, and I had had a long day. I needed a sweet. So, she grabbed my keys and off we went! After much deliberation and a few loops around West End, we agreed upon Krispy Kreme to satisfy our late night sweet tooth.

Even after that decision, our options were infinite. And with the Halloween special donuts…even more options to choose from!

But after waiting, and waiting and waiting….we finally got our warm, sugar coated treats!

And they were delicious!!

Bar Cart

After residing in The Grut for a full year, we have acquired quite a variety of alcohol. And we realized piling it all on top of the dusty fridge was not cutting it. So we borrowed this cute DIY bar cart idea from our friends Bess and Mary Margaret.

First, we ordered this basic cart from IKEA. Then, I spread it out in the yard and spray painted it gold.

And, here we are with a complete, cute bar cart! A perfect place to hold out drinks, glasses, and a little bit of decor!

Fall Festivities

With the weather finally turning cooler, I have been dying to have a bonfire. Sitting around a crackling fire, roasting marshmallows with friends is the definition of Fall in my mind. So, last night, we made it happen right here in our backyard.

Setting up was surprisingly fun. My dad set up the fire during the day, but I did everything else by myself. We have a massive back yard that hardly ever gets used, so it was nice to spend some time back there preparing for the evening.
Obviously these ingredients were essentials.

Fun friends always make the party. Unfortunately this weekend, some key roommates and friends were out of town, so we will have to do a repeat soon!

The company was wonderful, though, and the bon fire was a success!

Happy Fall, Y'all!
