Happy Spring

Even though this winter was not nearly as long as last, I am thrilled to be welcoming Spring into the world today. The longer days, beautiful sunsets, and warming-by-the-day breezes have been lovely.

It has actually been a rough couple days, but the sunsets are a intricate reminder of God's faithfulness. Happy first day of Spring!

wanderlust

I have been itching to travel lately. And reading this beautiful blog post did not help that desire! I think it is just the worldly ache that constantly leaves us wanting what we cannot have...

Regardless, where would you go right now if money were no object?!
I am thinking the beaches of Thailand…

You Win Some, You Lose Some...

This was how I spent my Spring Break last year.

And this, unfortunately, is how I spent my Spring Break this year.

In life, I try to accept that some things go your while and other things do not. Some days you are the bug, some days you are the windshield. You win some, you lose some. Life's not fair. We could all use a reminder of this every now and then.

A Lovely Mountain Getaway

With the winter lasting forever, we scheduled a weekend trip to good ole Lookout Mountain. It was glorious.

Rita and I drove up Saturday morning so we could stay for the proposal party, so we joined Camille, Amy, Livvy, and Nancy around lunchtime.

We explored the little town of Mentone, even though most of us have spent many summers in sweet little Mentone.

We canoed, relaxed, watched the sunset, feasted, talked…it was so refreshing.

We all returned on Sunday afternoon feeling rejuvenated and ready to start a new week.

Engagements!

I feel like friends are getting engaged right and left these days…its exciting! Matt and Susan got engaged Friday night and we had a wonderful evening celebrating the happy couple.

And, of course, there was plenty of champagne, treats, and ring pops to help us celebrate! I had this great vision of a picture with all the girls holding up their ring pops while Susan flashed her new bling. So, we took some cute pics like that, then the photographer said, "Show your excitement for their engagement!" And Rita did this…

Let me give you a closer look...

Rita and I woke up the next day to a group text from Matt with this photo that just said, "Caught". Hilarious.

Well played, Rita. And so many Congratulations, Matt and Susan!

[Always] Proud to be a Demon Deacon

It is no secret that I love Wake Forest, but I am extra proud to be a demon deacon tonight. Wake Forest beat one of our biggest rivals, the Duke blue devils. And not only is this an exciting victory, it means we have defeated all three of our major in-state competitors this year! Go Deacs!

Its times like these when I miss the good ole days of games in the Joel, hideous black and yellow tie dye, and carrying on the tradition of rolling the quad to celebrate victories. But, to let deacons enjoy from afar, Wake forest has a webcam of the quad! Below is the quad at this very moment. How cool is that?!

It makes me nostalgic for days like these, when I was actually running around the quad with friends and toilet paper. Here a few of my favorite quad-rolling, victory celebrations!

As always, Go Deacs!

My First Mardi Gras

Happy Fat Tuesday. I spent the weekend in New Orleans celebrating Mardi Gras, and it was quite the celebration! A city wide party. Millions of people clad in green, gold, and purple. Ornately decorated floats throwing beads and random toys. The country's best bands. And 75-degree weather. It was a happy, happy place to be.

For years, my best friend Emily has invited me and I have never been able to attend. This year, just two days before she casually mentioned it, and my schedule happened to be clear-able! So, we were off to New Orleans. Her grandmother lives on St. Charles Avenue and her family welcomed me with open arms and graciously included me in all of their festivities.

And we did Mardi Gras in a classy, hassle-free manner. And I loved every minute of it. I could explain all day and it would still sound absurd, so I'll save us both the time. Even these pictures do not nearly do it justice, but here is my documentation of a wonderful weekend in Nola!

And one of the most fun parts of Emily's sweet sweet family, who were all incredible hosts, were her cute little bitty cousins. Vivian turned three on Sunday, so she blew out the candles on her giant crab shaped king cake and enjoyed the massive party that the city of New Orleans threw for her!

Happy Mardi Gras!
