See ya, February.

Even though February is the shortest month of the year, it is probably my least favorite. Between the short days and the cold weather, it is just hard for me not to feel down. This year, it was spiced up by spending the middle week in Los Angeles, but I am still not sad to bid adieu to February.

I am looking forward to warmer, longer days and the start of springtime!

New Quote on My Favorites List

My friends have recently started teasing me about my rule breaking tendencies. And I have never thought of myself as a by-the-book rule follower, but I also never paid attention to how many rules I ignore until they starting jokingly saying "No Rules Carroll" whenever I disregard a silly rule. And let me clarify by saying, I break little dumb rules like parking in no parking zones and talking my way into concerts I do not have tickets for. Just trying to add a little zest to my life.

Tonight I came across this beautiful line from Pablo Picasso. I immediately stored it away as one of my new favorites.

#fialatothemax

I have been to more than my fair share of weddings. But Sam and John's wedding last weekend was one for the ages.

I am not sure if it was the reunion of wonderful Wake Forest friends…

or the california sun and beaches in February…

or the lovely venue for the reception…

or the killer photo booth and props…

or the stellar band…

or the Nashville friends making it a group vacation...

or the In'n'Out food truck that showed up for late night snacks…

or just the fact that everyone adores Sam and John both individually and as a couple!

Regardless, the wedding was spectacular. Cheers to Sam and John, truly wonderful friends and it has been an honor to witness falls story unfold!

Sandals to Snow Bunnies...

Yesterday, I spent the day lounging in sunny Los Angeles. Ate lunch at the food truck park. Caught a few rays. Did a little shopping. Ate like a local. I even woke up in that dream world today.

Today, after waking up at a God-awful hour, I landed in snowy, ice-ridden Nashville. I was ill prepared and dressed inappropriately when I stepped out of the airport. My car got stuck and my friend Joe had to save the day. While I am happy to be home and cozy up inside, it is literal culture shock.

More to come on the amazing (and elongated!) trip to California when I adjust to this crazy weather! Its been a wild 12 hours, from sunny and 75° to icy and 5°.

Los Angeles

Tonight, after a packed-to-the-brim today, I will head to the airport and hop on a plane for sunny Los Angeles. I am excited for a plethora of reasons. Warm weather. A much needed vacation. Visiting dear friends. Reuniting with college friends. The ocean. And, obviously, the reason for the trip, Sam and John's wedding.

This song has been on repeat as my excitement has climbed the last few days.

But, last night as Hannah (who I am visiting!) sent me this text, it made me reflect on how much life has changed over recent years. The last time I went to visit her, I had just graduated from Wake, was in the middle of road tripping across America, and preparing to move to Germany in a few short weeks.

Fast forward 2.5 years, I am drowning in graduate school, fully immersed in Nashville life, and taking a quick break to hop to LA for a wedding and mini-vaca. I am coming from a completely different place in life, but I am just as thrilled to go to LA!

Dinner Dates

One of the many perks of living in Nashville is the random dinner dates I can have with my parents. I was sitting in class yesterday afternoon when I realized I didn't have dinner plans, and a few short hours later, we were all dining at the new Flip Burger.

I am thankful for my parents, regardless of where they are, but especially thankful to have them living in the same city as me.

(Not pictured, Mama. Because we took pics before she arrived. Sorry!)
