Musical Month...

I always love a good concert, but lately I have been finding myself going to so many wonderful shows. It's times like these when I feel like I could never leave Nashville.

First up, Ellie and I went to see Mat Kearney play at the Ryman. It was a dream come true. Mat is one of my all-time favorite musicians, and he was better than ever playing in the beautiful, old mother church. And Judah and the Lion opened for him, and the duet they did together was my absolute favorite!

A few days later was Alt-j. Alt-j is on the far end of the spectrum of music I enjoy, like they are almost too techno for me, but the show was a blast.

My friend Claire invited me to come see her dad, my very favorite songwriter, Tom Douglas. He was playing with Adam James and Ft. Worth Ferguson. While that whole show was extremely entertaining, Ft. Worth Ferguson was hysterical and I cannot wait to see his next show.

For Evan's birthday, a group of friends went to see The Mowglis perform at Mercy Lounge. This was a great show, especially for a random Tuesday.

I always tell my co-worker Jess that she is missing out by never having seen a show at The Ryman. Having the show the other day, we spur of the moment found tickets to see Ryan Adams that very evening. His beautiful voice reverberated through the whole Ryman and it was an amazing evening.

Impromptu Trip to Peru

Thanks to my kind hearted and world traveling sister, and her company Lydali,  I will be jetting off to Peru in less than a month! I just found out this week, so I am giddy with excitement and busy with planning!

If you have any tips, must-sees, advice, or happen to be free the last week of May and first week of June and want to join me, please let me know!

Now excuse me while I plan furiously and practice my Spanish like crazy!

Engagements, Engagements!

I have been in the wedding phase for a few years now, but in the past two weeks, both my brother and my very best friend got engaged! It is super exciting, but a little crazy (and if i'm being honest, maybe a little disheartening) too to have two extremely important people in my life both getting engaged at the same time.

Alison and I have been besties for more than 20 years now. From the good ole days of bike rides on Gardendale drive and meeting at the stop sign, from visits to DC and back to Nashville, to college road trips and cheering on volleyball games, to traveling the world together…Alison has been an incredible example of love and friendship in my life and I am so thankful for her crazy zest for life.

Peter is my brother who is just older than me. We grew up almost like twins, with me tagging along with his friends and rebounding the basketball to him for hours on end. From forcing me to memorize rap lyrics in the car to teaching me how to drive, from trips to Moe's and cheering at countless basketball games from childhood to college. Peter is a sweet brother who I have always looked up to and I am so thankful for him.

And both engagements were adventurous and fitting for their personalities. Peter proposed to Brielle mid-skydive, and Cody proposed to Alison on a picnic in the lake district near her grandparents house in England. Talk about romantic!

Cheers to the happy couples! May you both have long, happy marriages…with lots of visits from me :)

Good Friday

In the hustle and bustle of everyday, I often lose sight of the purpose of this life. I tend to forget of the life Jesus gave for us. But, today, on this dark and stormy Good Friday, I took the time to reflect. I especially enjoyed the weather today, with the mid afternoon storm sounds and darkness, it seemed like what the weather may have been like on the very day Jesus hung on the cross.

When this world seems hopeless, try to be thankful for His death and resurrection. For the life He has given you.
