Epitome of Community

Today, I saw an example of community that literally brought tears to my eyes. I have been involved in the Special Needs ministry at Christ Presbyterian Church for several years now. I love that this ministry exists, and I especially love both the kids involved and the adults that facilitate it.

Unfortunately, one of the sweetest, most spirited boys from the Special Needs Ministry is battling cancer for the second time. Michael is fighting the good fight, but his prognosis is not good. Because he loves to wear hats, he requested that CPA have a hat day in his honor. It was also suggested that each student bring $1 to contribute to Michael's Child Life Fund.

The CPA community rallied around him in full force. Over 1,200 students, faculty, and friends gathered for an assembly in the gym. With tears and cheers, everyone sported their wacky hats and showed their support for sweet Michael. Even through his sickness, Michael beamed as he walked into the gym. It truly was a beautiful example of community.

Praying for you, sweet Michael.

Springtime is [sorta] here...

Nashville was blooming and the sun was shining high in the sky, but its been a bit of a tease. The cold weather came back and this weekend was windy and cold. Which was not ideal for the outdoor cookout that a few of my friends  threw this Saturday. Their house is lovingly known as "The Thunderdome" and the cookout was held in their nice front yard.

We still played corn hole and can jam, but we were huddled around the grille for warmth and may have had a few extra drinks to stay warm.

Needless to say, the cookout was a success and we are hopeful that this warm weather that blew in today is here to stay. Thanks for the hospitality, thunderdome boys!

Snowpocalypse 2.0

There was a tiny ounce of sadness that I missed the beautiful snow, the sledding, and the walks to friends houses when Nashville experienced the Snowpolalypse while I was in sunny Los Angeles. But, fortunately, round two was in store!
And this is how we (camille) felt about the snow!

It seems funny to be posting this now, since its sunny and finally feels like spring (!!) today, but the pictures of our snow adventure are too cute not to be shared!
It was a random smattering of friends who lived close enough to walk or were willing to brave the icy roads and clueless Nashville drivers, but it was a fun crew! And the cute pup was the icing on the cake!

The rides and air and sledding adventures were hilarious, and we all had bruises to remind us!

It was a fantastic day with lovely snow and festive friends! I now have my snow fix filled for the next year, and am ready for long, warm spring days.

"Some days you are the bug, some days you are the windshield..."

…today, I was the bug. all day long.

I try not to complain too much because I know there are people out there struggling and suffering more than I ever will. But today was just one of those days. Major exam, pure exhaustion, printer broken with a big paper due, work, sick, doctor, respiratory infection and double ear infection, car battery dead, rain. I just felt like I could not win.

I am thankful for my sweet mama taking me to the doctor [even at age 25!], my dad jumping the car, and sweet, sweet friends.

National Pancake Day

Happy National Pancake day from my friends to yours.

As Camille said it so eloquently this morning, "A friend wishes you #happynationalpancakeday, but a true friend meets you at 7am to celebrate." It was a delicious way to start our Tuesday.

Dr. Seuss

One of my all time favorite authors is Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. And while there are countless brilliant quotes and hilarious, yet talent-showing pictures he has drawn out there, I just wanted to share this one in honor of his birthday today.

Thanks for making my childhood a little more imaginative, a little more lively, and a little more exciting, Dr. Seuss. I will always admire your wit and creativity.
